Blakedown Landscapes have earlier this year completed works for North Somerset Council in time for summer events including the recent T4 on the beach concert by Channel 4 television.

The Beach Lawns is well used for events that often use heavy vehicles, the council wanted to implement a scheme that was the most appropriate, cost effective way of improving the lawns without placing any extra financial burdens on them.

Works were focused on reinforcing entrance areas of the beach lawns to improve access and parking and to prevent further damage. The areas performed well as demonstrated during T4 where heavy lorries were used to carry staging and sound equipment to and from the event.

The lawns were stripped and a Golpla system by Hoofmark was installed and backfilled with a bespoke rootzone to an area of approximately 700m² which was then seeded.

Roz Williams – Project Officer at North Somerset Council said “Blakedown worked consistently well and delivered a brilliant finish. The site is a significant feature of the seafront and contractors had to deals with many queries from residents and passers by”
“In conclusion we are very happy with the product and Blakedown Landscapes performed well, they provided a very patient service and left the site in a good condition”
