There were certainly jolly hockey sticks and players after Blakedown Sport & Play installed a new artificial hockey pitch at the independent co-ed school in Dauntsey, near Devizes, which is renowned for its sporting achievements. In fact, one of its key players, Emma Channon, recently represented West of England Hockey (Wessex Leopards) in the U16s category.

Blakedown had already resurfaced an existing sand-filled pitch at the school and was delighted to win the contract to install the new-build pitch.

The new FIH-standard pitch has a sand-dressed Edel LSR/NDR carpet and incorporates a 12mm shockpad so that it can also be used for tennis.

This new 101.5m x 63m pitch, including run-offs, was completed with fencing and provision for floodlighting to be installed at a later date. Adjacent to the site, Blakedown also constructed a sand-dressed practice area.

Once these works were completed, Blakedown Landscapes won the £1m contract to carry out a variety of external works at the school, including constructing coach routes, a car park, three natural rugby pitches, a natural cricket pitch and natural athletics facilities.
