Horniman Museum Landscaping
Historic restoration works by Blakedown Landscapes are now well underway at the 19th Century Horniman Museum in Forest Gate, London.
Part of the project scope is to relay the existing crazy paving back to its precise pattern within the sunken garden. Detailed photographs were taken of the layout and the slabs were left with the moss and lichen that has grown over the years so as to exactly recreate the pavement before it was lifted.
The works include a new reflection pool, new pathways, roads, musical play equipment, animal shelters, railings, disabled access ramps, tree planting, resin surfacing, and all whilst still being open to the general public.
The overall plan for the gardens is to create new outdoor spaces for learning, with the project concentrating on the refurbishment of; The Bandstand Terrace, The Animal Enclosure, The Sunken Garden & New World Food Garden.
Blakedown commenced works on site back in early February and are currently working to schedule for completion December 2011.
