Description
Extensive soft landscaping works at the new Crossrail Station in Canary Wharf

The soft landscaping award category set by BALI (the British Association of Landscape Industries) includes any scheme which is overwhelmingly of soft landscape construction, that may include small hard elements, and with a total construction cost, including all materials, that meets the criteria specified by each category tier.

Blakedown took over the space from concrete formation and works on the project included new drainage, insulation, void formers, top-soiling, bespoke feature walls, ducting, bespoke seating, a specially constructed pre-cast concrete plank walkway, resin bound surfacing, over 2000m2 of granite paving, mature trees and extensive shrub planting, and a fully automatic irrigation system specially adapted to cope with the specialist tree ferns imported from Australia.
