Official Opening of Blakedown's First Scottish Jobs

Opening by Cllr Anne McKay

Last year Blakedown Sport & Play won their first two Scottish projects, both for the construction of full size 3rd generation pitches with floodlighting and fencing, one for Buckie High School, the other for Speyside High School in Aberlour.

The official openings of these pitches took place earlier this month, where Councillor Anne McKay declared the pitches open for the school and community use.

Cllr McKay, vice-chairman of Moray Councils children and young peoples services committee, said They will be a valuable asset to the many people in the Buckie and Speyside areas who are already making use of these splendid new facilities.

The synthetic turf means that people will be able to play football, hockey and other sports all year round and the floodlighting also enables the pitches to be used during the dark evenings.

As well as competitive play, the pitches will also prove to be an excellent training facility for individuals and clubs looking to improve their skills in their chosen sport.
