Blakedown Supports Community Planting Day at The Regent’s Park’s New Garden

Nearly 200 members of the public joined The Royal Parks on Saturday for a community bulb-planting day at the new garden being created in The Regent’s Park to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

This was the first time the garden has opened to visitors since construction began, giving people a rare opportunity to help shape the new space and see progress behind the scenes. Led by The Royal Parks’ Help Nature Thrive conservation team and The Regent’s Park horticultural team, and supported by Blakedown Landscapes, participants planted a mix of spring bulbs chosen for their vibrant colour and for the nectar and pollen they provide for vital pollinating insects.

The new garden has been designed by The Royal Parks’ landscape team and HTA Design. Blakedown Landscapes is delivering the scheme on site, with work progressing toward the garden’s opening in spring 2026. The garden will include a biodiverse, sustainable planting scheme featuring plants of significance to Queen Elizabeth II.

The bulb-planting day reflects The Royal Parks’ commitment to involving the community in the creation of the garden and supporting wider understanding of its ecological and horticultural benefits.
